Attorneys from Whitt Law will be participating in many aspects of this year’s IASB/IASA/IASBO Joint Annual Conference and would love to see you there. If you are attending the Joint Annual Conference, we hope that you can attend Whitt Law’s hospitality suite Friday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hyatt, Astor Suite 3276 (East Tower).

At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, James Dougherty, Brian Bare, and Brittany Flaherty Theis will be presenting with Dr. Kristin Humphries, Superintendent at East Moline School District No. 37. Together, they will walk the audience through the steps involved in investigating reports of misconduct through recommending a course of action to the Board of Education in a presentation titled “From Investigation to Discipline or Dismissal: A Primer.” The attorneys at Whitt Law have prepared a PowerPoint presentation and a procedural flow chart.

At 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, Stuart Whitt will be presenting with Todd Drafall and Micheal DeBartolo regarding the legislative process. Audience members will learn the details of how a bill becomes a law. The presenters, along with guest speakers, will provide background information and legislative insights, while walking audience members through the life of a hypothetical bill that would be of significance to school districts.

Please contact Whitt Law Attorney Brittany Flaherty Theis for details regarding the hospitality suite or for electronic copies of the written materials for the presentations.
