Over the past 37 years, the Whitt Law team has earned a solid reputation for excellence in three key areas: representing Illinois public school districts in matters pertaining to public education; representing municipalities, counties, community colleges and other local governments in matters pertaining to the assessment and taxation of large special purpose, commercial and industrial properties; and advocacy in litigation and dispute resolution.

In 1977, Stuart Whitt was recruited out of law school to a general practice firm in Aurora, Illinois. During the next ten years he quickly became known for his success in advocating the interests of rapidly growing public school districts in northern Illinois. In 1987, Mr. Whitt founded Whitt Law, a firm dedicated to representing public school districts, as well as local governments in large property tax disputes. Today, the firm maintains a thriving practice in education law and is also widely recognized for their in-depth knowledge and tenacity in representing taxing bodies in the valuation and taxation of nuclear power plants and petroleum refineries, as well as other complex properties. Whitt Law also has a solid reputation in providing superior advocacy in litigation and dispute resolution.

Whitt Law regularly represents public school districts, taxing bodies and others before state and federal courts, boards and commissions. With a dedication to providing its clients with sound, practical solutions, Whitt Law is poised to remain an indelible force in public education, property taxation, and advocacy in litigation and dispute resolution. In 2014, Whitt Law expanded our offices to Springfield, Illinois where we will to continue to provide outstanding legal services to current and future clients.
