We will not be hosting our annual hospitality suite at the IASB/IASA/IASBO Joint Annual Conference this year due to COVID-19. Instead, we invite you to connect with our attorneys in a number of ways at the conference and in the months to follow.

For example, Attorneys Brittany Flaherty Theis and Brian Bare will be attending the Annual Seminar on School Law on Friday. Attorney Brian Bare will be a great contributor to the Illinois Council of School Attorneys’ lineup. “Snap, Twitter, TikTok – The First Amendment After BL v. Mahanoy” is sure to lead to helpful discussions on the trends in social media and their First Amendment implications following the latest United States Supreme Court decision on the topic. (See Stuart Whitt’s News & Knowledge blog post about the case here.)

Additionally, Attorneys James Dougherty and Brian Bare will be joining Superintendent Gauwitz (Midland CUSD No. 7), Superintendent Nasshan (Lincolnwood SD 74), and Assistant Superintendent Russo (Lincolnwood SD 74) in presenting “Leadership Transitions: Expect the Unexpected.” Together, they will discuss what happens when vacancies in board seats and the superintendent position occur. Participants will learn about best practices and legal requirements for planned transitions, and how to avoid pitfalls when unplanned vacancies occur. The presentation begins at 10:30 am on Saturday in Grand Hall I in the East Tower of the Hyatt.

As always, you can follow us on our blog and social media platforms or contact us directly to meet for coffee or arrange for a presentation by our attorneys. More about how to reach each of our attorneys can be found here.

For those of you able to attend this year, we hope you have a wonderful conference experience and safe travels!

Also, be on the lookout for upcoming News & Knowledge posts for more information about IASB’s January webinar on collective bargaining in which Brian Bare will be participating.
